Lots of people have yard ornaments which are
wooden, but when left out in the weather, the paint begins to peel, hardware
on the piece rusts and generally speaking, after a couple of seasons, it
looks old and worn. There are several things you can do to keep your

good shape.
First of all, make sure all contemporary
outdoor furniture pieces are well sealed with wood sealer. This usually
comes in a can and can be sprayed on the craft after the paint has dried. A
couple of coats should help it withstand the weather and keep from warping.
If you have a wooden craft that has seen better days, it might still be
saved. After cleaning it up, re-paint the piece, then spray with the wood
sealer.

sealer is sold in cans and applied with brushes. Either sealer will do fine,
but the canned sealer is probably a little cheaper than the spray, but the
spray is much easier and more convenient.

or sealing.
You can use an electric sander on a large
piece, or regular sandpaper on a small piece, but make sure you don’t get
carried away and damage the piece. Taking care of outdoor wooden crafts just
takes a little time and a little maintenance, and for your own handmade
crafts, it's well worth it.
